How to Care For Curly Hair

Caring for curly hair can be difficult. You may want to manage the curl, minimize the curl, enhance the curl, reduce frizziness, and minimize poofiness. There are products and techniques that will help you achieve the look you desire, even if you have curly hair.

If you desire to minimize the poof in your hair is to comb your hair prior to rinsing out your conditioner. When you comb your hair while you style it you will create poof. You should not blow dry your hair unless you diffuse the roots or you are going to straighten your hair. Another good tip it to apply leave in conditioner and let your hair set in a shower cap for about twenty minutes. If your hair tends to poof at the ends apply less conditioner to scalp and more to the hair ends.

Water is very important if you have curly hair. Hard water contains lime and calcium and will cause breakage when you comb your hair. If you have curly hair you will have better results with softened water.

If you want to maintain your curls you should shampoo with a soy cream product. Massage it into your hair for three minutes. Rinse and repeat two times. Alternately you can use a cleansing conditioner and use in the same way. Rinse out whichever product you choose to use. Then apply an herbal conditioner. Allow the conditioner to soak for a minimum of thirty minutes under a plastic cap. Rinse out the conditioner and apply a curling conditioner leaving on for two to three minutes, combing through sections at a time. Last apply a leave in conditioner that is suitable for your hair type.
