What is the difference between sweet almond oil and regular almond oil?

I've noticed a lot of cosmetics have sweet almond oil, is that the same thing as the almond oil I can find in the supermarket? I'm looking for something to prevent stretch marks.

Hey Ava, the almond oil you get at the super market probably is sweet almond oil but just to be safe make sure you get a good brand I use Melrose Almond oil for all my massages that I do. It should be fine to add it to the cocoa butter, it may help with stretch marks, you can also use macadamia oil, that is a nice rich oil and used a fair bit in pregnancy blends but may be a bit more expensive then the almond.
You can also put some tangerine essential oil in with the blend, it is a safe pregnancy oi and supposed to be good for stretchmarks as well as being relaxing and uplifting and it smells nice!! You only use about .5-1% of the essential oil which works out at 10 drops per 100ml of your almond/cocoa butter blend for .5% or 20drops per 100 ml for 1% (1 drop per 5ml = 1%)

Fish Oil And Vitamin E Depletion: Is It True?

Some questions have recently been addressed in regard to consuming fish oil and vitamin E depletion as a result. These concerns were brought out when researchers at Tuffs University in Boston reported that those who participated in their study showed reduced levels of vitamin E in their systems after consuming large doses of fish oil for several months.

Since this oil is rich in omega3 fatty acids so crucial to a healthy body, making fish oil and vitamin E equally vital nutrients, we must pursue a way to ensure we have adequate amounts of both. So let's take a closer look at the cause and the solution.

Part of the problem is the fact that oxidation of the fish oil pulls from the body's vitamin E reserves to help compensate for the oxidation. One way to solve this dilemma is to take a fish oil capsule that has antioxidants added as well as vitamin E included in the supplement. Another possibility would be to take a separate supplement of vitamin E to be sure you are taking in proper amounts. Look for the chemical name alpha-tocopherol to identify the natural form.

Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant in our bodies, which protects cells from damage- causing free radicals. These destructive compounds come from ultraviolet light from the sun, cigarette smoke, and air pollution, just to name a few. We also need this nutrient as a boost to our immune system to combat bacteria and viruses.  Some natural sources of this vitamin include wheat germ, safflower oil, almonds, and sunflower seeds. When looking for it in the form of a supplement, try to always get the natural form rather than a synthetic type.

When it comes to fish oil, freshness is of extreme importance. The manufacturer should provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) along with the product revealing to you, the consumer, the total oxidation value, which should be as low as possible for optimum freshness. This analysis also shows levels of heavy metals and other possible pollutants detected. Another sign of an excellent product is that there should be no rancid odor if you cut open a capsule and smell it. If burping occurs after swallowing a fish oil supplement, this could be a sign of possible rancidity.

Fish oil is rich in the essential fatty acid EPA that the heart requires to maintain proper circulation. It stabilizes heart rhythm, decreases artery-clogging triglycerides, and can help in lowering blood pressure.

The essential fatty acid DHA is also in fish oil and is necessary for proper brain function. The brain needs adequate levels of DHA to rebuild and maintain cells, and some studies have shown that memory and ability to focus were highly improved by taking omega3 fish oil.

In conclusion, the most healthful solution to the original problem is to find a supplement that includes both a superior quality fish oil and vitamin E together along with other natural antioxidants to meet the needs of our body without losing other nutrients in the process.
