Why organic is so expensive?

I want to use bath products more organic for my daughter and is at least 3-5 times the price of their products are not organic! For example, your Johnson's Baby Shampoo is about $ 3.00 for a 15 oz bottle. The cheapest organic shampoo I could find is $ 11.99 for 8 oz wanted to get to their most natural toys for the holidays, and organic cotton stuffed animals were much more expensive, as were natural building blocks of unpainted wood. I have to correct something Hipp5 said: Organic farms tend to produce more profit per acre than non-organic mechanized farms (Google). The reason a farmer Organic has less money than a non-organic farmers is that the latter has huge area, so it gains more just on the volume. This explains in part why Organic is more expensive: insurance, each acre is worth more, but the farmer can not have as many acres (because he is not using heavy mechanization and chemical inputs needed to keep a farm going). So overall, organic farms have generally been small-scale operations, and this has a tendency to increase the price on the consumer end. Furthermore, the lack of chemical inputs and / or genetic manipulation means that crops will not grow as fast or as large as non-organic, and also have a shorter shelf life.
