Below are references to help you decide which are the factors that should be avoided:

Parabéns. Brunell University a decade ago in Britain, identified parabens as xeno-estrogens penetrated the skin, contributing to infertility and hormonal imbalances. The Food and Drug Administration U.S. (FDA) called parabens the most widely used preservative. Avoid these preservatives, if possible for several reasons - including its relationship to breast cancer in men and women.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate. An ingredient proven by the FDA and found to contain dioxane. (see below dioxins)

Peg. These ingredients are potentially disrupting hormone due to the presence of dioxins and phthalates. (Testimony of Congress for the Subcommittee Assistant Surgeon General)

- Dioxins. Family of chemicals containing chlorine widely recognized as some of the most toxic chemicals ever made by humans. Dioxins are often contained in anti-bacterial ingredients such as triclosan, which was also Agent Orange. Most acne products contain antibacterial ingredients.

- Phthalates. Scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have found that chemicals called phthalates, which are known hormone disruptors, cause birth defects in animals. These are powerful toxic to reproduction and development. They do not belong to products acne, shampoo or other products marketed to adolescents or women of childbearing age.

FD & C Color Pigments, Perfumes. "Humans are exposed to tens of thousands of potentially harmful synthetic organic and inorganic chemicals in your daily life in the form of pesticides, dyes, pigments, perfumes, spices and other products. At relatively low levels of exposure to these chemicals can promote weight gain, says Dr. Baillie-Hamilton, "by altering the metabolic functions of the body." According to a study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, these chemicals can cause hormonal disturbances and damage to many body's natural weight control mechanisms playing a significant role in the epidemic obesity worldwide.

Fragrance. Some fragrance ingredients are hormone disrupters, which contain highly toxic chemicals (Environmental Health Network, the FDA Office of Cosmetics Fact Sheet)

Benzyl peroxide. This can be a hormone disrupter, but it causes irritation skin, allergic reactions, inflammation, and as stated in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Anyone with acne need an ingredient that causes inflammation and redness.

In summary, scientific evidence is that formal legislation stimulated in California. Safe Cosmetics Act of California, which entered into force in January 2007, aims to restrict and absolute prohibition of the use of ingredients that are carcinogens, hormone disruptors, neurotoxins and dangerous for humans or their pets.
