How I can repair my severely damaged hair?

My hair is thick and wavy, but often blow-dry it straight. I spent a week in Puerto Rico, and between humidity and the days spent in the sun and salt water, my hair is totally fried. I'm doing the cut at the end of next week, but I would find some homemade recipes to condition deep hair to return to normal. Any suggestions?
