Do sulfate free shampoos make your hair greasier?

I've started using sulfate free shampoos, and they really do make my hair softer and more manageable. However, the downside is that they also make my hair a little greasier. Is this normal? I don't know what's less damaging - using a shampoo with sulfates OR washing my hair more frequently with a sulfate free shampoo....

i don't think so. i just switched and at first i thought my hair was more greasy then i realised it was because when i switched shampoo i stopped straightening my hair. the sulfate free shampoo makes my hair nice enough to not need to straighten it so i haven't been and it was getting really greasy after 2 days. so i've just had to put up with it and only wash my hair as little as possible until my hair got used to it. i only need to wash it every 3-4 days now.
you just need to re-train your head.
i think you're better off using the sulfate free shampoo and washing your hair more often though. my hair is AMAZING now!
