In the second part of "Vitamin D and raw vegan diet," I see vitamin D3, the problems with supplements and winter weather. Be sure to check Part I for information on where vitamin D comes from, how much we need, and the toxic ingredients in sunscreens.

D3?

Vitamin D (and vitamin D supplements) actually comes in two forms: vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Although Once considered equivalent, is now known that vitamin D3 (produced from exposure to UVB rays) are not absorbed through the skin immediately. In reality, it takes up to 48 hours before most of the vitamin D you have been exposed to has entered your bloodstream.

What is the problem?

After a day nice, sweaty passed away, what's the first thing we do? Take a shower.

What we do not usually do in the shower? large amount of foam soap soapy.

Oh, oh. The problem here is that you are not just wash with soap sweat. If it's been less than 48 hours, is removing the skin of everyone who Vitamin D beautiful!

The solution? Well, there are a couple:

# 1: Wait two days to the shower

They can not wear makeup or lots luxury accessories, but I'm still a lady.

I'm not waiting two days after sweating in the sun time to rinse!

# 2: Only water use

I like to take a shower almost every day so this is my personal preference.

I know, I know. Only water?!

If you eat healthy, low fat raw diet without salt spices and seasonings, which really is not necessary to use soap. In fact, I never use any soap, natural or otherwise, to clean the skin.

But I to save that for another post.

Problems with supplementation

The research out there about the problems with supplements of any kind, including vitamin D, is quite extensive.

A special study conducted in 2008 showed that supplementation of vitamin D can actually block the receptor of the nuclear vitamin D (VDR), which is required for the "repression or transcription of hundreds of genes, including genes associated with diseases ranging from cancer to multiple sclerosis.

Here is a quote from Professor at Murdoch University in Australia School Biological Medicine and Biotechnology, Trevor Marshall, Ph.D., as cited in a target = "_blank"> ScienceDaily article on the study:

Molecular biology is now forcing us to rethink the idea that a low measured value of vitamin D means simply need to add more to our diet. Vitamin D supplementation has been used for decades, and yet the epidemics of chronic diseases including heart disease and obesity, are only getting worse.

Our disease model has shown us why low levels of vitamin D are observed in association with serious and chronic disease, "Marshall said. "Vitamin D is a hormone secosteroid, and the body regulates the production of everything you need. In fact, the use of supplements can be harmful, as that suppress the immune system so the body can not fight disease and infection effectively.

The animal world is full of clues how to live healthy. So, like watching domesticated mammals (the intake of various natural substances in your feeds) would complicate things, we consider wild mammals such as squirrels, deer, rabbits. No supplement (not to eat fatty fish or vitamin D-fortified milk).

Clear, get far more sunlight each summer we (that gives a clue about the lifestyle adjustments that are made). But supplement manufacturers as to make us feel that no matter how much sun it receives in the summer in the UK our health will be endangered if nothing is done D supplements in the winter. However, these animals are doing great! (But note that not sit behind the windows, drinking alcohol daily soap sets, or overeating or ...)

I think I will take a lesson from my friends keep animals and simple (and free) from the sun.

What about winter weather?

Since vitamin D is fat soluble, can be stored by the body. This means that you have the potential for enough sunlight during the warmer months to last throughout the winter.

But do not think you can not get a wicked tan in the winter. Did you know you can get severe sunburn, which is reflected in the snow?

Now, I'm not going to catch sun in 30 degree weather and certainly not recommend it. But if you're a fan of cold weather (or a masochist), be my guest!

My advice to you

If not already done so, make sure that most of the last two weeks of warm weather before it gets too cold.

Remember, all it takes is 15-30 minutes outdoors (unless who has dark skin, in which case they require more exposure) to receive sufficient amounts of vitamin D.
