How to get hair under wig?

At my High School we are dressing up for Halloween I am going as Pippi Longstocking. I am wearing a bright orange wig with pigtails out to the sides. The problem is I have really long, thick hair and I cant find a way to put my hair up so it will fit under the wig. Any suggestions?
